RENOWNED AUTHOR AND BOLTING TECHNOLOGY EXPERT CORRECTS DISC-LOCK MISSTATEMENTS

John H. Bickford corrects writing errors concerning DISC-LOCK products that appear in his book titled; Introduction To The Design And Behavior Of Bolted Joints (4th. edition CRC Press 2008)

Culver City, Calif. – May 7, 2010 – DISC-LOCK International was issued a retraction by John H. Bickford for significant falsities regarding DISC-LOCK products in his most recent book titled; Introduction To The Design And Behavior Of Bolted Joints(4th. edition CRC Press 2008.)

“I have known John for many years and respect his tremendous knowledge of our fastening industry,” said Alistair McKinlay, Chairman of DISC-LOCK International. “Mistakes do occur and we accept his retraction of the writing inaccuracies,” added McKinlay.

On page 318 of Mr. Bickford's 2008 Book, he declares that DISC-LOCK International no longer exists and that its products are now made by one of DISC-LOCK International's primary competitors. He also states that the DISC-LOCK name is not currently found on the Web.

“I recant the above writing errors in my book and know that DISC-LOCK is still in business, along with being a very robust company with an aggressive Web presence (http://www.disc-lock.com)” said John Bickford, Consultant, Bidwell Industrial Group, Inc. “Editing errors are unacceptable in my writing and I apologize for any harm caused to DISC-LOCK and Alistair McKinlay by my book,” added Bickford.

Bickford went on to say, “I also included a reference table containing a list of several different types of locking fasteners in the 2005 book. The table reference source did not incorporate the DISC-LOCK Nut. However, I went onto state that although the DISC-LOCK Nut was not included in the table, I believe it might top the list (for superior performance) – my opinion remains unchanged.”
