DISC-LOCK ATTENDS THE AWEA HOSTED
WINDPOWER CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION
Culver City, Calif. – May 28, 2010 – DISC-LOCK International recently attended the AWEA (American Wind Energy Association) hosted WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition in Dallas, Texas.
Each year AWEA hosts the WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition, which is the premier wind energy event in North America, which last year hosted over 23,000 attendees and nearly 1,300 exhibitors. WINDPOWER showcases exciting opportunities for companies entering the wind market and brings wind leaders together to address America’s economic, energy, and climate challenges.
“This conference is of significant value because we get to meet people and companies for which our DISC-LOCK vibration-proof fastening systems are ideal,” said Alistair McKinlay, Chairman of DISC-LOCK International. “The wind power industry is a new market for us and countless areas of this market can use our vibration resistant fasteners,” added McKinlay.
“Meeting wind power industry specialists at a conference like this can produce new partnerships and sales opportunities,” said Jamie Gallagher, Vice President of DISC-LOCK Wind Power and Solar Energy. “2009 broke all previous records for this nation with the installation of nearly 10,000 MW of new wind power generating capacity (enough to serve over 2.4 million homes) and DISC-LOCK intends to be a supplier to this market,” added Gallagher.
DISC-LOCK vibration-proof fasteners can be used in several areas of the wind power market including, but not limited to; tower base fasteners, tower joints, turbine blades, turbine generators and braking systems. Cyclic stresses produced by rotating turbine blades that will stress and fatigue common fasteners will not affect DISC-LOCK fasteners.
The distinguishing feature of the DISC-LOCK fastening systems that set them apart from traditional fasteners, revolves around the patented cam-action of the DISC-LOCK nut along with the free-spinning characteristic of the nut.
