DISC-LOCK NEWS
DISC-LOCK announce RoHS compliant commercial Wheel Locking Nut!
DISC-LOCK announced that its patented Safety Wheel Nut is now
available in a new environmentally friendly anti corrosion coating
that is RoHS compliant. The vibration and shockproof wheel nut is
used for commercial trucks, trailers and buses and designed to
eliminate wheel loss. The lock nut is made of cold forged steel,
which some companies often coat, in toxic chrome derivatives such as
Hexavalent and Trivalent chrome.
Vehicle manufacturers and operators are under increasing pressure to
conform to a range of RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances),
EPA, and OSHA directives that prohibit toxic metals on such parts.
The new DISC-LOCK International locking wheel nut is now RoHS
compliant. The coating used is from GEOMET®, which is water based
and VOC compliant compromised of overlapping zinc and aluminum in an
organic binder. The new environmentally safe coated Wheel lock nut
can then withstand salt spray tests of 720 hours.
In addition to the protective coating the interlocking cams are
simple to install, greatly improve safety and out performs standard
two-piece wheel nuts in torque and vibration tests. DISC-LOCK wheel
Nut is fitted by major fleet operators and approved by vehicle and
axle manufacturers. The cost of the system has also been greatly
reduced through cold forging that drastically reduces material
wastage associated with stamping processes.
